Q & A's

Below is a list of common questions regarding upgrading the power of a diesel engine.

My vehicle is brand new, what's the best option for me to use?

Ideally an 'add on tuning box' as it can easily be removed should any warranty issues arise, HOWEVER, the performance gains will be massively less compared to our remapping option.
We can remove the performance map and reload the standard map should you have any concerns.

Where on the vehicle is the power upgrade fitted?

This is dependant on the type of power upgrade
Tuning boxes generally mount under the bonnet and connect to the engine.
ECU remaps are the software within the vehicles ECU (Engine Control Unit)

How much of a power/torque/economy increase can I expect from using one of your power upgrades?

Again, this depends upon the form of power upgrade chosen.
'Add on' boxes can only ever increase power/torque by a maximum of 30%, beyond that causes faults to occur or damage. A 3 to 10 mpg gain is feasible.
Our ECU remaps can deliver power / torque gains of in excess of 45% with a 5 to 15 mpg improvement.
Results for each and every vehicle will vary.

I'm not sure if my vehicle is suitable to use a power upgrade, how do I check?

View are applications lists. All vehicles that we can upgrade are listed here. If your vehicle is a very latest model please contact us as we may not of added this vehicle to our list.

What's the charge to fit a power upgrade?

Fitting of our power upgrade boxes is free.
Uploading an ECU map is included in the price, BUT if you are not happy with the map and would like the vehicle reverting to standard a £50.00 + VAT reload charge is applied, in simple terms, you'll be refunded your money minus £50.00 + VAT.

What do you offer for my LandRover TD5?

Our ECu remap gives an INCREDIBLE result, you WILL NOT be disappointed!

Have you anything to tune my Japanese Pick up, 4 x 4 , car?

No.
We will only be 'tuning' these vehicles via ECU remap though at present the system is not ready.

I cannot decide between ECU remap or tuning box.

Do you want a moderate power increase and slightly better MPG?
Does your vehicle struggle a little on hills?
Have you started towing a slightly heavier load?
Has your vehicle over 180k miles on the clock?
Is the vehicle older than 2007?
If yes, then a tuning box will suffice.
OR
Do you want a power/torque increase that will completely transform the characteristics of the engine?
Do you want extra power the second you 'put your foot down'?
Are you towing a much heavier load or just started towing?
Do you want the maximum possible MPG improvement?
Has the vehicle covered less than 180k miles?
If yes, then an ECU remap is the ONLY option.

Are your tuning systems suitable for when running on bio diesel or veg oil?

Yes, our ECU remaps and our tuning boxes have been thoroughly tested and work fine with alternate fuels.

I have seen ECU 'Flashing' offered at very low prices, how does this differ to ECU remapping?

A simple way of comparing this is to road surfacing.
Imagine your standard ECU map is a pot holed ridden, cracked and rough stretch of road that's been neglected for years (Not too difficult to picture for anyone in the UK!)
An ECU 'flash' is basically just tar spraying this stretch of road and sticking a load of stones onto it, a quick fix and noticeably better to drive on but not dealing with what's underneath.
Our ECU remapping system is, in effect, digging right down to where it's 'solid' and then applying a whole new surface of tarmac, Yes, it's more expensive but it's a vastly superior job.

Do you offer a trial period for your power upgrades?

Our tuning boxes all have a 30 day trial
ECU remapping has a 14 day trial period.

What's the process of having my vehicle remapped? What do I need to do?

Contact us to ensure the vehicle can be mapped, once this is confirmed we require your vehicle details and registration number. A booking can then be made and the map will be uploaded to your vehicle, this takes between 1 to 3 hours and you are welcome to wait.
If you are relatively local to us we can carry out the remap at your place of work or home.
Once the map is uploaded you will test drive the vehicle to ensure it meets your requirements, if so payment is then required (cash or credit card).
Should you change your mind and require the vehicle reverting to standard please contact us within 14 days of the upload date to arrange the reloading of the standard map.
NOTE:
Some vehicles require the ECU to be removed and sent to us.

I'm looking to increase my VW Golf TDI by as much power as possible, so I have a chance of keeping up with a Subaru WRX, can you help??

Yes, we can load a map with tyre shredding results, we cannot guarantee that you'll be eating WRX's for breakfast though!

Do your ECU remaps come with any warranty or guarantees?

Yes, please click here to view the full details.
